Texas BBQ

20 Aug

I gotta love me some good ole Texas BBQ…  if you’ve never had it you’re missing out for sure! There’s a place in town here that I think is the best… Cackle and Oink (seriously, that’s the name)… So we rolled through there the other night and I saw something on the menu that made me laugh, and so I took a pic and thought I’d share it with you…

Can you find it?  It’s like the 7th thing down on the list… post a comment with your thoughts on exactly what that is and if it made you laugh!  First one to find it wins this prize: I will think of you next time I eat me some Cackle and Oink!!

    Dear Larry-
I know exactly what a whole pork butt is. It is not the business end of a pig (what most people think) that would be a ham. The pork shoulder is cut into 2 portions- the picnic and the butt. The butts at C&O are actually seasoned with both dry and wet rubs. Cackle and Oink puts their pork butts on at 4pm every day. They slow smoke at 215 degrees over an applewood fire until 10am the following morning.
    Do I win a prize?

    Sincerely,

    Aaron Vogel
    Owner of Cackle & Oink

Thats great but what made me laugh is if you start at the actual top line, and go down seven to sliced Turkey Breast, thats made me laugh. It actually almost hits the dollar sign which makes the “$” look like an “S” which makes it look like Sliced Turkey Breasts, the plural for those who missed it. Now that made me laugh.

I am so glad that the owner of C&O cleared up the issue of what a “Whole Pork Butt” really is. When I read the original sign, I just thought; “No Thanks!” Now, after a little clarity, I might just have to have a big piece of that pork butt some time when I am your way. Thanks for the humor.
